The Mom’s Away, the Boys Will Play
So Meredith went off to some Bed and Breakfast with her friends over the weekend to do “scrap-booking” and get massages (by some scantily clad chip n dale no doubt). Needless to say she left us boys to fend for ourselves. So Dad learned a few things while mom was away… Here are the top 10 things Dad learned while Mom was away (in random order).
- I learned that my 2 year old son can crap so big he plugs the toilet.
- I learned that you can feed your children for free at the grocery store on Saturday.
- I learned that “Grandma and Grandpa’s Dog, Buddie, died because he was old!” – Harrison
- I learned that “when you die you go to heaven, but right now we can’t get to heaven because it’s really high and God doesn’t have a ladder.” – Isaiah
- I learned that Harrison like’s to play with his “peanut”.
- I learned that Isaiah likes to play with our neighbor’s ”boy toys” (the Mathews have two girls).
- I learned that both of my boys can manufacture a cry that will solicit the instinctive parental reaction of repremanding the other child for an act you have no evidance he actually committed.
- I learned that Isaiah will drink tomato juice right out of a can, but he wouldn’t touch an actual tomato if I bribed him with candy.
- I learned that I have two wonderful boys who’s company I treasure.
- I learned that I have a wonderful wife who takes great care of her boys. We miss her when she’s gone. We’re glad when she comes home.
I truly enjoy my boy time. We even seemed to manage a whole weekend without Mom to keep us in line, but don’t tell Meredith – she might get the idea that it’s ok to leave us stranded and destitute with no means of survival…
Just to clarify – someone described our “scrapbook destination” as the Las Vegas of Amish country….. it would be a far cry to have scantily clad gentlemen anywhere in the vicinity. Unless nothing but the hat might be considered scantily clad. ha, ha….
On another note – - I was SUPREMELY impressed that the house was very clean when I got home…..kind of makes me want to go away again just to see what could happen.
