Isaiah’s First Day of School!
Can you believe it?? He’s old enough for Kindergarden!! Isaiah was so excited for his first day of school, and it went great!! The night before, we read The Night Before Kindergarden - a great story where the parents all end up crying and the children are all wondering why….how true is that?!? I held it together quite well, although Mike asked me over the weekend if I was nervous about the first day, and I immediately started crying. Only now do I realize everything we put our parents through growing up – - I can’t imagine what it will be like when the kids say they want to move out, go to college, join the military, get married, etc. etc….If they’re smart, they’ll have a box of Kleenex in hand when they tell us that! But let’s deal with Kindergarden for now……Isaiah went to bed with no issue, but then nearly an hour and a half later, Harrison came out to tell us that Isaiah was crying. After talking to him for awhile, I think he just had too much time laying in the dark thinking about all the friends he’ll miss and probably worrying just a little about the next day. What he had to say was very interesting to say the least – but here is the cutest part:
Harrison: << kind of crying >> Isaiah, I’m really going to miss you.
Isaiah: << also teary >> I’m going to miss you too Harrison.
Harrison: << in his normal, non-super hero voice >> Well at least your new school has dinosaurs.
I’m sure there was something after that, but I was trying to contain the laughing. Nothing a little dinosaur can’t cure!! Harrison was still a little sad the next morning when we were walking home from the bus stop, but then was thrilled to realize when he got in the van that he can play with Isaiah’s toys now! :)
The first thing he said when he got off the bus: “Mom, I was an AWESOME listener! Can we put together my Transformer now?” Which, by the way, I can’t. I tried.
So that’s the first day in a nutshell….and he’s back there today! It’s sure to be an exciting year, filled with lots of wonder and amazement, and tons of great stories that only Isaiah could tell!
Enjoy the photos – the girls in the pictures are our neighbors. Have a great day!
- He really wants you to know there is a hood on his sweatshirt. :)
